Advocace Underwriting Compliance Procedure
Advocace Media works with underwriters, copywriters, qualified legal counsel and station leadership to prepare underwriting credit announcements that we believe comply with Federal Communications Commission underwriting guidelines. Underwriting credit announcements complete the following process as a part of our good faith compliance efforts.
- Advocace engages underwriter's commitment to support the station and forwards written commitment to station.
- Advocace discovers underwriter background and product lines.
- Advocace copywriters experienced with non-commercial announcement regulations draft underwriting credit announcement copy and send the script for underwriter's approval.
- Following underwriter's approval, Advocace forwards the credit copy to legal counsel that specializes in non-commercial underwriting compliance.
- If in the legal counsel's opinion the credit copy complies with the regulations and case law regarding underwriting credit copy, Advocace will forward to station. Otherwise, Advocace will edit the underwriting copy to comply with legal counsel's concerns and send for underwriter's approval, then proceed to Step 4.
- Advocace submits credit copy to station for its acceptance for broadcast.
- If station declines to broadcast the credit copy, Advocace will edit copy and send for underwriter's approval, then proceed to Step 4.
